Dispatch board
Operations > Dispatch board gives dispatchers a live, driver-by-driver view of the loads that are on the board right now.
What the page is for
The board is designed for at-a-glance dispatch planning. Each row gets a timeline (Day / 3-Day / Week), so you can see who is covered, who has room, and what is not yet assigned.
Resource tabs
- Drivers — one row per active driver.
- Trucks — one row per active truck.
- Trailers — one row per active trailer.
- Planning — one row per load that has dates in the current window, regardless of who it's assigned to. Use this tab to see what's coming up across the whole fleet. Planning does not support assigning — switch to Drivers, Trucks, or Trailers to assign a load.
Switching tabs keeps your filters, search, sort, and window in place.
How to read it
- On Drivers/Trucks/Trailers, each row is a resource. A block on that row is a load, positioned by its pickup and delivery window.
- Loads assigned to a resource with no schedule yet show as small chips next to the resource's name instead of on the timeline.
- On Planning, each row is a load — there is no resource column to place an unscheduled load on, so loads with no dates at all always show in the Unassigned panel instead of a row.
- The Unassigned panel on the left lists loads with no driver yet (or, on Planning, any load with no dates at all), split into loads in the current window and loads with no dates at all.
- Use Search, Status, and the other filters above the board to narrow it down; use Sort to change the order within a row. Driver, truck, trailer, and dispatcher filters are available no matter which tab you're on.
- Use Day / 3-Day / Week and the arrows to move the window; Today jumps back to today. The board opens on 3-Day the first time (it remembers your last choice after that).
- A thin time ruler above the day names (Wed 22, Thu 23, …) works like a measuring tape: printed times at larger intervals, with shorter unmarked ticks for each hour and half-hour in between (your display timezone). The ruler and day names stay visible as you scroll the board. Subtle lines mark midnight between days. Use the small chevron icon in the Driver/Truck/ Trailer column header to compact or expand resource names. Each load bar also shows its pickup–delivery times.
- A thin vertical now line marks the current time across the board (it moves as time passes, and disappears when "now" is outside the window you're looking at). It is not draggable.
Clicking a load block opens the load detail page, where you can see the full route, schedule, documents, and notes.
Assigning a load
On Drivers, Trucks, and Trailers (not Planning), you can assign a load two ways:
- Drag and drop — drag a load block from its row, or from the Unassigned panel, onto another row to assign it there. Drop it back in the Unassigned panel to unassign it.
- Assign-to menu — hover or focus a load block to reveal a ⋯ button. Open it to search the roster and pick a driver, truck, or trailer, or choose Unassign if it's already assigned. This works the same as drag-and-drop and is fully keyboard-accessible.
A load that can't be reassigned from the board (for example, one still synced from Alvys, or one you don't have permission to update) shows as not draggable and has no ⋯ menu. If an assignment can't be saved — the driver isn't on your roster, the truck or trailer isn't available, or someone else changed the load in the meantime — the board shows the reason in a banner at the top and refreshes itself so you're always looking at current data, never a stale attempt.
Needs attention
A small ! icon on a load block means that load needs a look — active detention, detention free time running out, or a billing hold. A driver, truck, or trailer row shows one ! icon if any visible load on that row needs attention.
- Clicking the load number, or anywhere else on the block, opens the load detail page normally.
- Clicking the ! icon jumps straight to the Needs attention section on the load detail page and opens it for you.
- Use the Needs attention filter above the board to show only loads that need attention, or only loads that don't.
If your filters (or the current window) don't match any loads, the board shows a message telling you so, with suggestions to widen the window, clear filters, or check another date.
Large boards
If a lot of rows or loads match your current filters and window, the board shows only the busiest slice and tells you exactly how much is hidden with a banner at the top (and a small "+N more" note next to any specific row or list that's capped). Nothing is lost — narrow your search, filters, or the date window to bring the rest into view.
What to expect
This page is a working board, not a reporting screen. It focuses on the current state of the load, so it is useful for day-of dispatching rather than history review. Loads outside your current window are not lost — they are still on the board, just visible when you navigate to that window.
If something looks wrong
If a load appears in the wrong place, check the load detail page first. The board reflects the current load status, assignment, and schedule, so a sync delay or a missing update usually explains the difference.
